September 4, 2009: FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) today announced their appointment as the exclusive licensing agent for the Lingerie Football League (LFL). The agreement sees FME handling global rights across television distribution, home entertainment, sponsor integration, digital extensions and consumer products.
The LFL is an extension of the hugely popular annual Super Bowl halftime television special called the Lingerie Bowl which has become a part of Super Bowl Sunday festivities for millions around the world featuring celebrity hosts, former/current NFL greats, national recording artists and the marquis 7-on-7 full-contact tackle football game.
Due to the previous commercial successes of Lingerie Bowl broadcasts, a new league extension of the concept is kicking-off Fall 2009 called the Lingerie Football League (or ‘LFL’). The LFL will include (10) inaugural season teams competing in a (20) week season, with only (2) teams from each conference advancing to the Conference Playoffs and Championship Game (Lingerie Bowl VII) in Miami, FL on February 7, 2010. LFL games will feature some of America’s most beautiful and athletic women playing at major NBA/NHL/MLS arenas and stadiums with one national game played weekly on Friday nights as part of LFL, Friday Night Football.
FME, the commercial and brand extension arm of FremantleMedia (FM), one of the largest international creators and producers of entertainment brands in the world, brokered the deal with the Lingerie Football League, to see the continuation of the league and further grow the brand, already known globally. The LFL will run from September 4, 2009 to January 29, 2010.
